About
Founded in 1938, The Easton Garden Club’s purpose is to increase interest in gardening among membership and the community and to advance practical knowledge in the culture and care of plants, shrubs, trees, birds, and wildflowers. The club is concerned with open space in the community. We work to protect the environment and improve the quality of life in Easton through contributory and charitable activities. The Easton Garden Club is a non-profit 501(c)3 membership organization and member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.
Our Officers 2024-2025
Susan Slagle, President
The president presides at all meetings of the club and executive board, and is a member ex-officio of all committees, except the nominating committee, and shall perform or delegate all other duties pertaining to the office.
Melissa Wade, Recording Secretary
The recording secretary keeps the minutes and attendance of all general meetings of the club.
Virginia DiCesare, First Vice President
The first vice president acts as an aide to the president and, in absence of the president, shall perform all the duties of the president. The first vice president records all business transacted at the executive board meeting.
Ann Denton, Corresponding Secretary
The corresponding secretary maintains a correct list of all members, and shall handle club correspondence pertaining to the office.
Carol Hamilton, Second Vice President
The second vice president carries out the duties of the program chairperson and, in absence of the president and first vice president, performs all duties of the president.
Kelly Skarupa, Treasurer
The treasurer receives and deposits all income of the club and keeps an accurate record of all receipts and expenditures. The treasurer pays the club’s bills from the treasury, upon authorization by the executive board and within the club’s approved budget. The treasurer may authorize others to help with duties. The treasurer shall present the accounts for audit once a year
